About
I work in IT operations: networks, servers, monitoring, and the alerts that arrive at the worst possible time. I like systems that tell you what is wrong before anyone has to ask.
Outside the day job I build software end to end, from the database to the deploy, mostly on Cloudflare. A lot of it is for people I know. My Greek Orthodox parish in Euless, Texas schedules its festival volunteers on a system I help build, and runs its websites on stacks I moved off WordPress.
The rest is for fun: a game engine in Rust, a multiplayer card game for game night, and a homelab that has taught me more than any certification.
Work
-
VolunteerMgr
Volunteer scheduling, sign-up and check-in for the Mid-Cities Greek Festival, shared by several organisations on one install. I’m one of its three core developers, with over 900 commits. It also has a gateway that lets AI assistants look up and update schedules safely.
-
Mid-Cities Greek Festival
The festival’s public site, moved from WordPress to a fast static site. Every date, menu item and price lives in one file, so a volunteer can update the festival without touching the layout.
-
Luck
A real-time card game for two to ten players, in the Palace family. Each table runs as its own room at the edge, and the same rules code runs in the browser and on the server, covered by over a hundred tests.
-
St. John the Baptist parish site
A rebuild of my parish’s website with a content editor staff can sign into with a passkey. Moving years of WordPress content across is underway.
-
Relic Engine
An isometric automation game in Rust. Every world gets its own generated rules, and a built-in solver hunts for the exploits in them before players can.
-
Homelab
Self-hosted services on TrueNAS: home automation, uptime monitoring, CI runners and ZFS storage, with a written incident report every time something breaks.
-
Tesla savings tracker
Twice a day, a scheduled job compares my car’s mileage and charging against local gas prices and posts what switching to electric has saved to Discord.
